EA is continually releasing new promo videos for the upcoming SimCity due out in 2013. While the always-on DRM is about as appealing as a guy with pee stains on his pants asking a supermodel out for a drink, the game itself still looks like a ton of fun, especially with the various layers of play involved.

The latest video for SimCity features lead designer Stone Librande giving gamers a brief walkthrough of some of the ways asymmetrical multiplayer can work, as well as using multi-city junctions to share power, resources and other municipal facilities. In the video the aim is for Stone to ramp up his casino land but there's a number of hurdles he encounters while doing so...including rising crime from a notorious gang, like The Warriors. Check it out below.

I'm so torn on this game. As much fun as it looks I can't get over the idea that it's always-on. The thing that bothers me the most about it is the fact that so many gamers don't mind bending over a table and letting the corporate giants strip gaming culture down to leased experiences that they control, not you.

Strategy fans and SimCity fanboys and fangirls will have to make some serious decisions in 2013 about whether or not they're going to support one of the coolest strategy games to come out in years by always giving up ownership rights of the product or if they're willing to bypass said experience to avoid supporting always-on DRM.

Anyway, you can look for SimCity to launch on March 5th, 2013 for PC. For more information feel free to visit the Official Website.
