The Sims 4 players are getting a bunch of new content over the coming months. Surprisingly enough, they won't have to pay for these additions.

October's update, available now, introduces ghosts to the game. Dead Sims can now return to your world with all the attributes they had while alive. They can even have jobs or relationships. Ghosts have new interactions at their disposal as well, including the ability to possess objects.

The Ghosts will also have certain new behaviors based on their cause of death. For example, a Sim who burned to death can set fires with her ghostly powers. Someone who died by electrocution will have a tendency to destroy electronics.

"Invite them to join your Sims’ household and they can be playable characters; if you dare, you might even find a way to bring your ghosts back to life."

The patch notes explain these new resurrection methods. Level 10 Gourmet cooks will be able to make Ambrosia to revive Ghosts. The Deathflower can be picked from gardens and used to ward off the Reaper.

This month's update also includes several Star Wars costumes. You can dress up your Sims in Leia's robes, Darth Vader's armor, or an X-wing pilot suit. All of these pale in comparison, of course, to the new Yoda costume.

Rounding out the patch are a few smaller additions. For example, the development team also added new eye colors to Create-A-Sim such as purple, dark blue and olive green hazel. A new Spooky radio station will provide you with some Halloween-themed music. The full list of changes and bug fixes included in the patch can be found here.

November's update might be even more popular. EA says that it will add pools to The Sims 4. Many fans of the series were upset with the developers for not including that feature in the base game. They assumed that EA was just going to package pools with a paid expansion pack. I'm sure they're happy to be proven wrong on this one.

The last free update announced today will arrive in December. This work-themed update provides new Career paths and rewards for Sims. EA didn't mention any specifics beyond that, though.

"All of these updates will be free for our players in The Sims 4. Just log in to Origin and download the patches as we release them. Each update will be full of great content and some surprises. Think that gnomes only live in gardens? Clearly, you’re not playing enough of The Sims 4."
