Supreme Commander Dev Takes To Kickstarter For Wildman ARPG

I really like when the old-school designers head to Kickstarter for something new, they seem to understand what it means to evolve a genre and take a risk without breaking the bank, so to speak. This rings true for Chris Taylor and crew at Gas Powered Games, who have taken to Kickstarter for their new project Wildman.

The Kickstarter video is short and sweet and aims to get the point across in a concise and informative matter. Basically, Wildman is ideally what anyone would have expected Diablo III to be. It's a highly customizable action-RPG with RTS elements, destructible environments and a persistent world dictated by player actions. Fans of both ARPGs and RTS titles will probably easily gravitate towards the game, especially given Taylor's pedigree and history of smash hits with games like Total Annihilation, Dungeon Siege and Supreme Commander.

The name didn't necessarily appeal to me at first and the concept almost seemed a little trite compared to the likes of Path of Exile and Lineage Eternal but, the wide range of customization, destructible environments and fast and furious gameplay looks to be very enticing.

With a lofty $1.1 million dollar goal I don't know if Taylor and crew will make the deadline in 32 days, but we'll see if gamers turn out in mass support of the title the way they did with Obsidian and inXile Entertainment.
