The Creative Assembly has released another DLC pack for Total War: Shogun 2. The Otomo Clan add-on introduces a new playable faction for the historical strategy game.
The titular Otomo Clan was one of the first to make contact with the Europeans. As a result, they have abundant supplies of gunpowder. Their four new land units and one new naval unit all use some manner of firearms.
The clan's other Western characteristics are also reflected in the game. Their extensive dealings with the Portuguese allow them to lease land to that country in exchange for money. Otomo's conversion to Christianity, meanwhile, has provided them access with a new building subchain that includes a Hospital, Jesuit Seminary and Jesuit College. These buildings dramatically boost the spread of Christianity.
The DLC costs $4.99 to download. Regardless of whether you buy it or not, though, you'll have a new Shogun 2 patch waiting for you in Steam. The patch reduces the load times and install size for the game. It also does the same for Fall of the Samurai, the standalone expansion.
