If being free-to-play and easy to access from just about anywhere on the web isn’t convenient enough for some gamers, I just don’t know what is. Nevertheless, Interactive Gaming Software knows otherwise and they will be expanding the commercial success of World of Tanks by having special boxed editions available at local retailers. I’d love to see pirates buy the game and then offer it up online at torrents…only an idiot would pirate a free-to-play game.

Wargaming.net CEO Victor Kislyi commented in the press release, saying…
“We're extremely proud to say that our headliner will finally appear in stores,” …“We are happy to partner with IGS and hope that their tremendous expertise in distributing retail production will help in bringing the popularity of World of Tanks to a completely new level.”

For those of you who don’t know, World of Tanks is a free-to-play MMO team-based tank simulator. There are more than 150 different tanks from all over the world featured in the game and just like most other MMOs out there, players can upgrade their tanks and its equipment to become an even more powerful force to be reckoned with. The game has easily become a runaway success due to the lack of competition in the armored warfare genre and maybe because the game is also free-to-play.

World of Tanks will be distributed across North America and Europe, however, no details on what exactly will be in the box has been revealed yet. In addition to this, pricing and release date information has yet to surface either, but I suspect the info should be coming soon. In the meantime you can enjoy playing the game…for free…by registering at the Official Website.
