Blizzard's is planning several major reveals for World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor. They're inviting critics and gamers alike to watch these announcements in person on August 14th.

"A storm of iron is headed Azeroth’s way—be among the first to witness its fury at the world premiere of the Warlords of Draenor cinematic!" Blizzard says of the event. "Join Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime, Chris Metzen, and World of Warcraft designers Ion Hazzikostas and Brian Holinka for the grand unveiling, streamed live from the Ace Theatre in Los Angeles."

The cinematic trailer will be accompanied by another video: the fist episode of Lords of War. Lords is an animated mini-series that will give us further insight into the lore of Warlords of Draenor. Blizzard did a similar series called The Burdens of Shaohao before the launch of the last expansion Mists of Pandaria.

In Warlords of Draenor, Garrosh Hellscream travels back in time to the orcish homeworld of Draenor. He prevents them from their disastrous invasion of Azeroth seen in Warcraft 2. Garrosh unites the orc clans into a unified Iron Horde equipped with technology he brought from the future and prepares for invasion. Players must travel to Draenor's past to stop Garrosh from threatening their world.

The cinematic will probably illuminate some small episode from this story. Here's what I'm hoping for:

The Iron Horde streams out of the Dark Portal, riding wolves and battle tanks. A group of Horde adventurers watch from a nearby hillside.

Orc Player: Wait, if Garrosh stopped the orcs from invading Azeroth during Warcraft 2, what am I doing here? Shouldn't I be riding a tank right now with the rest of the Iron Horde?
Troll Player: It's too complicated to explain now. We have to stop them!
Orc Player: But -
Troll Player: Complicated!

The adventurers mount up and ride toward the Dark Portal with their weapons drawn. The Orc Player lingers at the hill. He sighs.

Orc Player: (whining) I want a tank.

The World of Warcraft team members in attendance will also divulge some other information about the game, including the release date. We last heard that the expansion will arrive by December but Blizzard hasn't narrowed that down at all.

The event will kick off at 9:30 AM PDT. Doors will open an hour before that. If you're 12 years old or younger, you'll need to be accompanied by an adult. The limited seating will be snatched up really quick because everyone who attends the event will get a Warlords of Draenor beta key. The expansion's closed beta started in late June.

Gamers throughout the world will have a chance to watch the proceedings online through I'm sure that all of the relevant footage from the event will be pop up on YouTube and other destinations immediately following the event, too.
