Upcoming Movies In 2026: New Movie Release Dates

If you were like millions of other people over the past weekend, you likely either helped The Devil Wears Prada 2 crush at the box office, or you helped Michael destroy biopic records alongside other stalwart earners like Mario Galaxy Movie and Project Hail Mary. We're looking to the near future now for the next batch of new and upcoming 2026 movies, and I can't imagine anything beating out Mortal Kombat 2 for the #1 spot next weekend.

It's definitely a big weekend for filmgoers, though, and the rest of May is stacking up just as nicely. I'm always most invested in upcoming horror flicks, so I am beyond ready for Obsession, Passenger and Backrooms to hit in the coming weeks.

With some major upcoming book-to-screen adaptations, family-friendly adventures, and even more horror, there are so many big-screen experiences (and streaming exclusives) about to premiere, moviegoers have plenty to get excited about in March 2026 and beyond. That said, let's take a look at everything coming out...

May 2026 Movie Releases

A little less than 50 years after George Lucas started the massive franchise, David Filoni will give the world its first new Star Wars movie in nearly a decade with The Mandalorian and Grogu. And yes, it's happening in the same month where a movie called F-cktoys is coming out.

Philip Sledge
Content Writer

Philip grew up in Louisiana (not New Orleans) before moving to St. Louis after graduating from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. When he's not writing about movies or television, Philip can be found being chased by his three kids, telling his dogs to stop barking at the mailman, or chatting about professional wrestling to his wife. Writing gigs with school newspapers, multiple daily newspapers, and other varied job experiences led him to this point where he actually gets to write about movies, shows, wrestling, and documentaries (which is a huge win in his eyes). If the stars properly align, he will talk about For Love Of The Game being the best baseball movie of all time.
