After a life filled with the emotional and physical struggles of being severely obese, former My 600-lb Life star subject Sean Milliken has sadly passed away. At the time of his death, he was just 29 years old.

Sean Milliken died on Sunday, February 17, while being hospitalized. According to Radar Online, his father Matt Milliken explained in a Facebook post that Sean was brought to the hospital several days earlier to see about an infection. Things took a turn for the worse on Sunday, when Sean was having issues breathing.

The medical staff was able to resuscitate Sean initially. However, his heart inevitably stopped a short time later.

TLC released a statement reflecting on Sean Milliken's death, which can be read below.

TLC is saddened to share that Sean Milliken has passed away. Viewers first met Sean in 2016 on My 600-lb Life when he weighed over 900-lbs. Over the course of his weight loss journey, he victoriously lost over 400-lbs. TLC viewers caught up with Sean this past summer and learned that despite the loss of his mother, he was still continuing in his quest to live a healthier and happier life. TLC expresses its deepest sympathies to Sean’s friends and family at this difficult time.

Sean Milliken first appeared on My 600-lb Life back in 2016 for Season 4, and his maxed out weight of around 900 lbs made him the heaviest person to be featured on the TLC reality series. The episode showcased some of the ways in which Sean fell into his most unhealthy habits, with his mother Renee admitting to overfeeding him as a young boy to balance the negativity Sean experienced from verbal abuse by his father.

The episode also showed how Matt moved with his mother to Houston in an attempt to secure a weight-loss surgery that might help him become more mobile. As it was shown on a follow-up segment filmed in 2017, the sleeve bypass operation Matt had helped him lose 300-400 lbs, though unchanged habits at home unfortunately limited the continued weight loss.

In 2017, Sean Milliken faced a gigantic personal setback when his mother Renee passed away; She'd suffered from a kidney disease, and died at the age of 57, leaving Matt without the co-dependent caretaker he'd relied on for so long. It was reported that Sean Milliken was living by himself in a Texas apartment at the time of his death.

Sadly, Sean Milliken is just the most recent death of a former My 600-lb Life personality, with two others also having died in the past six months. Lisa Fleming, who appeared in Season 6, passed away in August at age 50. Not long before that, fellow Season 6 star James L.B. Bonner, age 30, was found dead in his South Carolina home of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
