Timothy Olyphant Found A Great New TV Role After Netflix Cancelled Santa Clarita Diet
I am far from over Netflix cancelling Santa Clarita Diet, but at least Timothy Olyphant will be back on my TV set fairly soon for a "key" role in Fargo Season 4. It'll also mark an FX reunion for Olyphant, who played Raylan Givens for six seasons on FX's Justified.
Fargo is an anthology series, but each season is connected in some way. Fargo Season 4 will star Chris Rock as the head of a crime syndicate of black migrants who clash with the Kansas City mafia.
According to Deadline, Timothy Olyphant plays the major recurring role of Dick “Deafy” Wickware. We'll have to stay tuned for more specific details on his role.
Fargo fans should definitely see some connections to Season 2 -- aka the best season, in my opinion -- which co-starred the scene-stealing Bokeem Woodbine as Mike Milligan.
In Fargo Season 4's 1950 Kansas City, MO, two criminal syndicates — one Italian, led by Donatello Fadda, one African American, led by Loy Cannon (Chris Rock) — have struck an uneasy peace, which the heads of both families have cemented by trading their youngest sons. So far, the impressive Season 4 cast also includes Ben Whishaw, Jack Huston, Jason Schwartzman, Uzo Aduba, and many more.
Noah Hawley's Fargo Season 4 is heading into production this fall/winter for an unknown release date. It may be a while.
Meanwhile, Timothy Olyphant was recently seen in the Deadwood movie, which finally made its way to HBO earlier this year. He's in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and will soon be in The Starling with Melissa McCarthy, Chris O'Dowd, and Kevin Kline. Since he's such a great cowboy-type, I would love to see Timothy Olyphant join Kevin Costner's Yellowstone cast. Any way we can make that happen?

But I'm still bitter that Netflix cancelled the great Santa Clarita Diet after three seasons. The Drew Barrymore comedy ended on quite a cliffhanger for Timothy Olyphant's Joel Hammond and Mr. Ball Legs. Olyphant was also an executive producer on the series, and he had the perfect response to the cancellation. I wish he went ahead with his idea, because I'd track down new episodes however I could get them.
It shocked a lot of fans when that horror-comedy was cancelled, and its name has been invoked in the #CancelNetflix movement as an example of a show that was gone too soon. Oh well.
The first three seasons of Fargo premiered in 2014, 2015, and 2017.
