The cast for Jared Padalecki’s new show Walker -- a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger -- is continuing to grow! In case you missed it, following the conclusion of Supernatural, Padalecki will star in The CW’s upcoming reboot of the Chuck Norris-led classic. Padalecki will take on the title role. Ever since getting ordered to series, the cast has continued to expand, and it has now added a CBS star to its ranks.

Deadline reports that SEAL Team’s Coby Bell has joined the cast of Walker in the series regular role of Texas Ranger Captain Larry James. Captain James is a “trailblazer in his division,” who is described as “confident” and “sharp as a razor.” He is the only African-American man working in Austin’s headquarters and one of the few African-American men in the whole Ranger division.

Captain James is said to possess “true grit” and a “wry sense of humor” as part of his personality. Viewers will get to see Coby Bell in action as Captain Larry James when the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot premieres on The CW. A start date for the series has not gotten set quite yet. The cast continues to flourish in the meantime!

Coby Bell is currently recurring as Warrant Officer Glen Mack on CBS’ SEAL Team, which is now in its third season. Bell previously starred in Fox’s The Gifted (pictured above). He joins the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot in a series regular capacity, which should mean he will have a central role in the reboot. What that means for his future on SEAL Team is unclear.

Coby Bell joins the ensemble of Walker, which includes the previously cast role of Walker’s partner. The 100’s Lindsey Morgan is set to play Micki, who is one of history’s first female Texas Rangers. Micki is described as “focused” and “perceptive.” A complement to Captain James’ razor-sharp skill set.

Along with Walker’s professional life, Walker has cast members of his family. Pretty Little Liars’ Keegan Allen will play Liam, Walker’s “gay and conservative younger brother.” Who is playing Liam and Walker’s dad? The reboot recently cast their father, Bonham Walker. Mitch Pileggi, who played the grandfather of Jared Padalecki’s Supernatural character, will take on the role.

To recap, in the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot, Jared Padalecki’s Walker is coming home from a two-year undercover mission. His wife died under what he starts to believe were suspicious circumstances. Walker is now a single father to their two children. Based on his suspicions, you have to think an investigation into the death of Walker’s wife will get underway in Season 1.

Will Coby Bell’s Captain James and Lindsey Morgan’s Micki help him solve the case? They both have the skills crucial to aiding in any ensuing investigation. The description does not mention if they will get involved or not. Nor does it say if Jared Padalecki’s Walker will actually carry out an investigation, so this is sheer speculation on my part. There are some substantial clues he might!

While Walker’s father is a third-generation rancher, Walker’s brother Liam is a recently promoted assistant District Attorney when Walker begins. Could he also provide some investigatory assistance? You would think a conflict of interest would apply in both Liam and Walker’s case. Stay tuned and anticipate Coby Bell’s Captain Larry James as the newest addition to join the cast.

New episodes of SEAL Team air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. While you wait for Walker to arrive after this winter and spring’s premieres, you can watch Jared Padalecki on Supernatural. It returns on Monday, March 16, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. You can catch past seasons of Supernatural on Netflix, along with many 2020 premieres.
