Britney Spears' Boyfriend Breaks Silence To Support Pop Star After Fans' Documentary Reactions

Britney Spears in Framing Britney Spears

Since the documentary's trailer was released, mega-fans of pop superstar Britney Spears, as well as the general public, waited with anticipation for Framing Britney Spears to be released. After the project aired as part of Hulu's The New York Times Presents, it became a hot topic on the internet, and fans have been expressing their opinions (among other things) far and wide. One unexpected person spoke up as the reactions mounted, as Spears’ boyfriend Sam Asghari broke his usual silence to show support for her, and also to call her dad "a dick."

Only a few members of Britney Spears’ team have come forward to talk about her life and public perceptions, but the fervor surrounding Framing Britney Spears seems to be quite the influence. Days after the documentary premiered on Hulu, Spears’ boyfriend Sam Asghari made an uncharacteristic move and publicly spoke up about their relationship, which the actor is known for staying private about. Asghari gave an exclusive statement to People, expressing his gratitude to the pop superstar’s fans while speaking on his devotion to Spears.

I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves. I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together.

Sometime after Sam Asghari issued that measured and kind-hearted statement, however, he took to his Instagram to reveal his far less warm feelings about Britney Spears’ father Jamie. Hinting at Spears’ father attempting to assert control over their romantic relationship, he stated:

Now it’s important for people to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way. In my opinion Jamie is a total dick. I won’t be going into details because I’ve always respected our privacy but at the same time, I didn’t come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom.

With his two polar opposite statements on the matter, Sam Asghari gave a peek into Britney Spears’ private struggles while fully supporting her on her recent efforts. Spears not only has the support of her boyfriend and outspoken fanbase, but of other media figures as well. Before the documentary aired, the #FreeBritney movement marked the 13th anniversary of Spears’ conservatorship.

Britney Spears has been engaged in a legal battle with her father for a while now over her conservatorship, which has been in place since 2008. The #FreeBritney movement has been heavily focused on questioning the pop superstar’s conservatorship, as well as her mental health in response to it, for a long while now. She revealed last September that she would not be performing as she seeks to permanently remove her father from having any role in her conservatorship. While she did gain some ground traction in the courts, Spears and her legal team suffered a setback as a judge ruled against making the permanent change.

Seeing Sam Asghari show his full support for his girlfriend proved the bond between them is real, and at least, the pop superstar has someone solid in her corner. If you want to check out the buzzworthy documentary, you can watch the latest New York Times Presents installment, Framing Britney Spears, on Hulu.
