How Kim Kardashian Celebrated Kanye West's Birthday Amid Divorce

At this point, it’s no secret that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are in the middle of divorce proceedings. Neither celebrity has formally announced the divorce, but reports confirmed that Kardashian filed back in February. The proceedings themselves appear to be moving along without drama, but the two estranged spouses are allegedly not communicating on a regular basis. It would seem, however, that there’s still some love and respect between them, as Kardashian found a sweet way to commemorate her soon-to-be ex-husband’s birthday.

Kanye West celebrated his 44th birthday this week, and the veteran rapper received some major love from fans and fellow celebrities across the web. One of the many who joined the chorus of well wishes was Kim Kardashian. The reality TV star took to Instagram to share a sweet (likely pre-divorce) family photo, which included a loving caption aimed towards West. You can check it out for yourself down below:

In addition to the post, Kim Kardashian also posted a series of Kanye West photos on her Instagram stories, one of which was a throwback featuring West as a child. Khloe Kardashian also wished West a happy birthday with a throwback snapshot that featured the two of them, along with boyfriend Tristian Thompson and Kim.

Those who’ve been keeping up with recent reports surrounding Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may be a bit surprised to see her glowing birthday post. In the months leading up to Kardashian’s reported divorce filing, the two were said to be living “separate lives” and had opted not to continue with marriage counseling.

Kim Kardashian is currently reported to be living in the couple’s Hidden Hills mansion and spending time with the children. Kanye West is said to be staying at his ranch in Wyoming. The two are still said to be focused on co-parenting their four kids, as evidenced by the requests in their divorce filings but, right now, they’re reportedly doing so in a somewhat awkward way.

Still, the two have seemingly shown support and love for each other on other occasions over the past several months. When Kim Kardashian turned 40 last fall, Kanye West gifted her an eerily lifelike hologram of her late father, and Kardashian also clapped back at commentators claiming that West didn’t attend her birthday bash. She even seemed to subtly support her estranged hubby during this past Easter holiday. Additionally, on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the starlet even revealed that West showed support when the family decided to end their long-running show.

If anything, this recent birthday post indicates that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West do still care for each other, despite their current circumstances. It’s honestly nice to see and, hopefully, the relationship will remain cordial as they prepare to enter this new chapter in their lives.

Those looking to see more of Kim Kardashian, and glimpses into her relationship with Kanye West, can catch the final episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The show airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on E!.
