It’s been nearly a year and a half since we last saw Christina Haack take on her ex-husband,Tarek El Moussa, and his wife, Heather Rae, in a house-flipping contest on The Flip Off. Ever since then, fans have been excited for more heartwarming and hilarious drama from the exes. As we continue to wonder what’s going on with Season 2, Heather Rae and Christina are just out here flaunting their unlikely friendship — and yes, they know people think that’s weird.
It’s not every day that one finds their wife and ex-wife becoming best friends, but that’s the world that Tarek El Moussa is living in. Even he has admitted he didn’t see such a strong friendship forming between the two. Christina Haack and Heather Rae El Moussa were at it again, though, recently, as the latter posted an Instagram video of their supposed reaction when people don’t understand them hanging out together:
The best part of this video is its caption, which acknowledges that things could have gone a lot differently for the two women. The Selling Sunset star wrote:
We could have made it awkward. We chose iconic instead.
I think Heather Rae El Moussa and Christina Haack’s friendship absolutely is iconic because, for one thing, it sets such an amazing example for their children. It’s still hard for people to believe, though. Even as Heather Rae posts about how blessed she is that their co-parenting relationship turned into a real friendship, they’re both constantly asked if it’s all for The Flip Off or if they actually like each other.
Considering they were on different teams in Season 1 — and likely will be again for Season 2, despite fans calling for the women to team up against Tarek El Moussa — they probably even get along better when the HGTV cameras aren’t rolling!
Tarek El Moussa said his and Heather Rae’s relationship with Christina Haack is part of making sure his children have the best life possible, and if that means continuing to work with his ex-wife, so be it. Apparently that also means taking vacations with Haack and her boyfriend Chris Larocca, who she’s been dating for nearly two years.
Beachy vacations and giggly social media posts aside, anyone who tuned into The Flip Off — which is available to stream with an HBO Max subscription if you missed it — knows it’s not all hugs and friendship bracelets between Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack.
They were married for about seven years — even before they got famous on Flip or Flop — so they definitely know how to push each other’s buttons. But The Flip Off showed the love between them too. HGTV fans absolutely melted over Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack’s emotional conversation when she told him on camera that she and Josh Hall were getting divorced.
We’re definitely ready for more house-flipping and trash-talking between the trio (and whoever Christina Haack’s new partner is). Until then, we’ll just have to settle for the near-constant proof that Christina and Heather Rae El Moussa are really friends — no matter how weird you think that is.
