Elder Scrolls-Style MMO, Gloria Victis, Lands On Kickstarter
So you like medieval, low-fantasy, open-world, non-targeting, non-class based gameplay? Well, you're probably putting in a lot of time with Skyrim right now. However, have you ever wondered about exploring the same kind of open-world experience with friends? Well, Black Eye Games is working on that very concept in a game called Gloria Victis, which is currently on Kickstarter right now.
The game is in its very, very, very early stages of development. So what you're about to see in the video is an early design of the game, which is still a work in progress. The title is being built on the Unity Engine, which seems to be the choice engine for devs these days, and seems to be coming along nicely enough. Check it out below.
Of course, I have a few concerns: my biggest fear for this game is that it might end up like Mortal Online. I've never been shy about how disappointed I was in that game, mostly with how the concept was cool but the execution was poor. I suppose a lot of the blame rests on the poor optimization of the Unreal Engine for an MMO environment, but that's a story for another day.
Given that Gloria Victis is still in its infancy and the Unity Engine is relatively untested in a large-scale, sandbox MMO environment, I'd love to see what becomes of this game and if they can actually achieve what they've already started working on in the video.
If you're in the mood for some sandbox-style, open-world RPG exploration and gameplay, feel free to give Gloria Victis a little love and support over at the Official Kickstarter Page.
