PSP Firmware 3.90 Adds Skype Functionality

Skype on your PSP is finally here! It may not be an actual phone, but you can still make some calls. Firmware update 3.90 for the PSP is now available for you to download and use. You’ll need a PSP slim, headset and remote control, as well as a Memory Stick duo to save the Skype software on. Just download the latest upgrade, and you can access Skype via the Network category on the XMB menu.

Like on the PC, it’s free to create an account and call to other Skype users. If you need to speak to someone on a landline there is a nominal fee charged. You can get more details on that over here. Now you’ll just have to refrain yourself from making prank calls in the middle of a God of War: Chains of Olympus session. Oh, and don’t forget that you need to be in a Wi-Fi hotspot for this to work, otherwise you’re just talking to yourself.
