Gamers get to meet a virtual cupid and hook up with other gamers in a giant dating world set against the standard quest-and-grind affair that made the MMORPG genre popular. Lucent Heart is a free-to-play MMO that aims to keep romance and relationships as the centerpiece of the action.

We haven’t previewed any games recently here at Gaming Blend and it seems a little odd that Lucent Heart would be the one to get the pick, but when you have the chance to play test a game where you could potentially get matched up with a chair-ridden, 50 year old obese dude posing as a 15 year old girl looking for a little romance, how could anyone turn down the offer?

Anyway, Lucent Heart has an interesting Zodiac-based character class and match-making system. Players will first create a character using dates associated with popular astrological signs , which helps determine some class traits and match-making properties that players will be introduced to early on in the game…and by early on I’m talking level 8.

The game is fairly grind heavy from what was present in the early beta, and most quests revolve around grinding on ‘X’ amount of mobs for a period of time before turning the quest in. The good part is that the game quickly picks up around level 10, considering that class change options become available at level 15.

The combat is designed for casual gamers in mind (mainly female gamers) so twitch skills aren’t required the way it is in games like Fallen Earth, Tabula Rasa or Allods Online. It’s a one-click system when it comes to combat and after that players just watch the toon lay the smack down on a mob.

Pets, mounts, and specialty relationship-based instances and dungeons are also available in the game where couples can team up and take down bosses together. Cash shop clothing also plays a pretty big part in the community infrastructure, which I’m sure many young kids will probably find appealing. There’s also a lot of relationship-based emoticons to help players express their affection for their digital significant other.

While this game seen a lot of popularity over in Southeast Asia, I don’t know how well it’ll do over here in the States, but only time will tell. You can learn more about Lucent Heart by visiting the Official Website.
