Dennaton Games and Devolver Studios' Hotline Miami has officially launched across major digital distributors today and the game brings with it a somewhat minimalist yet disturbing launch trailer to help get gamers in the mood to experience one of the most chilling, retro arcade games to surface in years.
Wearing animal masks, killing countless people and engaged in some terrible acts of graphic violence is the basic setup of Hotline Miami, which takes the bright glowing over-indulgence of the 1980s atmosphere and throws in a mix of grime and grit from today's generation of noir storytelling.
Without giving too much away, you can check out the live-action launch trailer for the game below, which seems to mirror that unnerving calm and tension from Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive.
Can we please buy the soundtrack from some place...please?!
Designer Jonatan Söderström commented in the press release, regarding the game's recent release, saying...
“Development has been both exciting and challenging but we can’t be more thrilled to finally release Hotline Miami,"... “Dennis and I are incredibly proud of the game and are looking forward to people’s reactions to the story and questions posted to the player.”
If you can stomach the concept and you're willing to play something almost unlike anything else out there right now, you can purchase Hotline Miami for only $9.99 from digital distributors, including Good Old Games, Steam, Gamersgate and Impulse to name a few.
