Over a decade since Jagged Alliance 2's release, the turn-based strategy series is poised to make a comeback. bitComposer Games revealed today that "preliminary development work" has begun on Jagged Alliance 3.

bitComposer is a Germany-based company who most recently published S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. They've purchased the full rights to the franchise from Strategy First and will publish the game worldwide. The press release off-handedly mentions that Strategy First is working on a social network-based Jagged Alliance game, though.

Little was revealed about JA3 in the announcement. The game is said to "preserve the popular basic concept of the previous versions and place it in a contemporary setting." bitComposer expects a 2011 release for the game on unknown platforms.
