With a new story and many slight alterations made to the gameplay, it looks like Valhalla
Knights 2 could be a very well-rounded experience. The real highlight of Valhalla
Knights 2, however, resides in its very detailed customization system that gives players the
power to change the way the characters look, the weapons and their armor.
Any game that prompts to have customization as the highlight of their of gameplay is definitely
doing something right. In the case of Valhalla Knights 2, there’s lots of customizing to
pass around. In fact, players will have the option of changing their character’s gender, hair,
clothes, armor, faces and weapons. But it’s not just the main character who can fall victim to the
player’s power of alteration; other members of the team can also be altered. But even more than
that, there’s a total of 10,000 different items of customization for players to use. In total, there’s
supposed to be more than 100,000 different possible configurations for all the characters and
items. So there shouldn’t be any worries about getting stuck with a useless character or the same
weapons or armor throughout the course of the game.
But customizing things from A-to-Z isn’t the only new addition to VK 2. There’s also
three new job classes, including a new monk class that offers up more melee and martial arts
combat for players who like to get up close and personal with the enemy. The monk will have
various new moves that focus on special punches, kicks and strikes. The Monk class also has
some neat weapons at their disposal, from what’s been on display, so far.
While we’re on the subject of fighting...the combat in Valhalla Knights 2 is free from the
constraints of turns. Like the first game, players will roam around and attack enemies, which will
bring them to a battle screen where up to five other NPCs can accompany the player into battle.
Attacking enemies is quite simple, and the setup allows for close melee combat (duh), as well as
long-range attacks with bows and magic. Out of the twelve available classes, each class will also
receive basic skills and special attacks that players can alter as they progress trough the game.
This makes the combat pretty quick and quite dynamic. The only thing I noticed is that the
camera can be a little awkward at times. Still, the animations and moves are fluent enough to
make up for the camera quirks.
One of the best features announced for the game, though, would have to be the multiplayer
modes that include a versus battle and a co-op mode. Hence, for players who just want to train up
their character for the sake of battling another player, you can do so. But for players who just want to
have fun, kick-butt, and go adventuring with a buddy, the option is definitely available.
Valhalla Knights 2 will be exclusively available for the PSP on October 1st. Be sure to
