Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. App Launches On Android For Free
If you grew up in the 90’s, chances are pretty good that you are at least a little familiar with those infinitely popular egg-shaped virtual pets, Tamagotchi. Well, if you’ve got a hankering to relive the classic Tamagotchi experience, as well as take on some new mini-games, then you might want to check out Bandai’s new app, Tamagatchi L.i.f.e.. It released today, for free, on Google Play.
Originally released back in 1997 (feel old yet?), the original Tamagotchi toys tasked owners with keeping their virtual pet fed, healthy and happy by playing games with them and cleaning up after them. The Tamagatchi L.i.f.e. app features three play modes. The “Toy” mode replicates the original black and white character pixels and the old school gameplay. The APP mode updates the whole experience, adding color, music, new modes of play and the ability to grow and collect more Tamagotchi than ever before. Finally, a Rock, Paper, Scissors mini-game has been added.
The Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. app allows users to directly link to their Facebook pages in order to connect and share with friends. While there have been many imitations to make the rounds across the mobile market, this is the first ever app to bear the actual Tamagotchi stamp of approval.
“The mission of Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. is to provide consumers with a contemporary take on the much loved brand from their youth and this app does that perfectly,” said Bandai’s Chief Tamagotchi Officer, Naomi Tobita. “The fun and engaging gameplay of this newest media format will enable U.S. and Canadian consumer to rediscover that love they first felt when the toy was introduced in 1997, so it’s appropriate that we celebrate Tamagotchi’s sweet 16th birthday on Valentine’s Day.”
Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. is available for free on Google Play. It has a planned iOS launch in the near future.
