More Gears of War news coming at you, as Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games announced today that Gears of War has gone gold. To celebrate the passing of the gone gold development milestone, Microsoft released a new sneak preview of the TV and cinematic trailer, which is available now on Xbox Live.

Years in the making, tons of press coverage, and more hype than a fight promoted by Don King, Gears of War is finally on the verge of its “Emergence Day” unveiling, which is November 12th if you didn’t know. Going "gold" basically means that there is no more code to work on, no more art to improve, and no more bugs to tweak. So the game is full and ready and primed to be shipped. And if you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, the game takes gamers across epic battles for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet. This M-rated game blends the best of tactical action games with the best of survival horror titles. Gears of War features cinematic and interactive environments with high-definition visuals.

The press release had a list of features that will take place on Xbox Live to celebrate the Emergence Day, gold event:

● Hourly sweepstakes drawings and prize giveaways including the chance to win one of several Samsung HT-P29 Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound Systems

● An exclusive free Gears of War Gamer pic and theme only available on Emergence Day

● Game with Fame sessions with legendary heavy metal band and Gears of War fans Megadeth, the game s lead designer Cliff Bleszinski and other members of the Epic Games team

● Never before seen videos including a special Emergence Day transmission from Cliff Bleszinski

● An MTV Gears of War: The Road to Launch Sneak Preview

Hopefully after the television commercials air, the pre-paid reviewer scores are posted, and the game sells a gazillion copies, we’ll no longer have to hear about Gears of War on every single gaming channel around the web, or read about it every single day of the week. This Xbox 360 exclusive will be available at local retailers for the suggested price of $59.95.
