Alex Rodriguez Practiced Proposing To Jennifer Lopez For Days

Alex Rodriguez - The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

When you muster up the courage to propose to your partner, you want to make it count. It's not every day that you get down on one knee and ask the special person in your life the big question. While some folks might be more casual about the process compared to others, more often than not, people like to do their due diligence and prepare accordingly. That includes celebrities like Alex Rodriguez.

The former baseball player recently got engaged to his partner, Jennifer Lopez. And it's certainly not everyday that someone is lucky enough to ask the world-famous actress/musician that very important inquiry. In fact, Alex Rodriguez admits that he practiced for days before he finally worked up the internal drive to ask Jennifer Lopez to marry him. Even then, it didn't come easily for him, as he tells it:

I had the ring, but what was interesting is the three days prior to me going down on one knee and getting engaged was I rehearsed three days in a row.

As Alex Rodriguez explained during his most recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he was starting to get hints from Jennifer Lopez about his partner's desire to be wed. Specifically, her new song, "Marry Me," seemed like a dead giveaway. Therefore, having dated the famous musician for quite some time, Rodriguez sensed that it was finally time for formalities. Admittedly, it took a little bit of preparation, but he finally found himself asking his girlfriend the big question.

While Alex "A-Rod" Rodriguez is one of the most famous professional athletes in baseball, and a man who is also extremely rich and dating one of the most beautiful women on the planet, this moment of pre-engagement jitters does make the celebrity a little more relatable to the common folk. While most people cannot relate to the stresses that come with being a high-profile celebrity and a record-breaking athlete, we can understand the struggles that come from being nervous about asking your respective partner that very important question. People everywhere sympathize with that internal desire to do it right — and they recognize that underlying fear comes with the process: the thought that goes through your mind that, while you think they'll say yes, they might say "no."

Thankfully for A-Rod, however, Jennifer Lopez said yes. And the rest is history.

At first, Alex Rodriguez was not certain if he was going to get married to Jennifer Lopez. Both the former athlete and the musician have been married before, and they know the hassles and troubles that come with celebrity marriages. It seemed for a little while that they were comfortable simply being boyfriend and girlfriend. But evidently, things changed. And A-Rod sensed that the moment had come to ask for her hand in marriage.

With that, A-Rod and JLo are officially engaged. And we'll be sure to keep you posted on their latest developments right here at CinemaBlend.
