When compared to other Hollywood stars, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson usually towers over people due to his height and mass. Pretty much every co-star The Rock shares the screen with looks small in comparison. But even Johnson isn’t always the biggest guy in the room, especially when he hangs around basketball players. A new interview showed just how small the actor is compared to Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley.
Once again, black-ish star Anthony Anderson served as guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live! This time, ragging ensued as he interviewed his close friend and Jungle Cruise star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Of course, Anderson had to clown the actor for a photo he took with Shaq and Charles Barkley. Take a look!
Without the perspective of seeing Dwayne Johnson standing right in between the two NBA legends, who would have guessed how much smaller he would look compared to Charles Barkley and Shaq? Of course, Johnson had to defend himself by giving Anthony Anderson a little insight into the moment, saying:
Listen, you know that’s the thing about basketball, right? You know this, Anthony, because you’re a fan. You see these dudes; they’re like weekend warriors and you’re like, ‘Oh I could ball in the NBA.’ You get around real players and you recognize quickly just how big these guys are and how impressive these guys are. First of all, I didn’t have any shoes on…
While having a top-notch excuse, the photo doesn't lie. It's weird to see a massive star like The Rock looking so tiny compared to basketball players. When watching the actor on screen, he is always a huge presence compared to his co-stars. So, seeing the wrestler-turned-actor sandwiched between Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal puts things into perspective. In The Rock’s defense, both NBA legends are over 6’5”. But Anthony Anderson wasn’t done embarrassing the basketball fan just yet.
The basketball conversation wasn’t over between the two friends. Anthony Anderson decided to use Dwayne Johnson’s size against him once more by showing a photo of him with Chinese basketball star Sun Mingming. Again, The Rock has another excuse by pointing out he was spreading his legs. Of course, like any faithful friend, the black-ish star didn’t buy it. Anderson even brought up the actor’s promise to buy a fanny pack for Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker after his viral meme. The Rock chose the moment to get a dig in by calling Anderson’s prop fanny pack “cheap” before mentioning a custom one was being made.
The rapport between Anthony Anderson and The Rock showed what a genuine decades-long friendship looks like. Anderson and the Hollywood star even reminisced over a questionable throwback photo. It was nice to see Dwayne Johnson being super comfortable with Anthony Anderson during the interview. The conversation was like watching two friends talking with one another at home. They just allowed the audience to sit in on a typical conversation.
