Weekly Recap: VR Takes Over GDC And 5 More Reality Bending Stories

GDC came and went this year with a bang. More like a virtual bang. The 2015 Game Developers Conference was one of the rare times that gamers were probably more excited about what came out of it than developers.

Anyway, the real bombs were dropped in the arena of virtual reality. Sony amped up their commitment to VR with an updated Morpheus that's scheduling to go on sale for the PS4. HTC joined with Valve for their Vive SteamVR headset, and more games and software emerged with built-in support for devices like the Rift. HTC Unveils Vive SteamVR Device

HTC and Valve have teamed up together to unveil the new Vive virtual reality device that coincides with Valve's new SteamVR experience. The Underworld Ascendent MMO has accrued more than $650,000 in crowd-funding. Want some details on Battlefield Hardline? You'll want to check out these details. Get a look at some of the new characters for Mortal Kombat X. Pokemon players can get a free legendary... if you own Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire. Modders fulfilled their promise and added local split-screen co-op to Resident Evil Revelations 2. Hyrule Warriors is adding a big freaking chicken as a playable character in the next DLC update. World Of Warcraft Steps Closer To F2P

Some startling news coming out of the workshops of Blizzard as World of Warcraft moves closer to being free-to-play. Five Nights at Freddy's 3 has officially launched on PC. League of Legends has added party rewards and you can check them out right here. Epic Games has made the Unreal Engine 4 free... completely free, no strings attached. PlayStation owners might finally get a hold of Tearaway this summer. PlayStation Now has upgraded its gaming offerings by tossing in five extra games. It's been a long time coming but there's a ClayFighter remake in the pipeline. A new mobile app was announced for Mortal Kombat X. The official announcement for the DLC and Premium for Battlefield Hardline has arrived. And head of Team Sonic promises more console Sonic titles.

Source 2 Announced With Steam Link

Valve made two huge announcements at this year's GDC, one for the Source 2 engine and another for the Steam Link. Trine 3 has officially been announced. There's an infinite Thrall glitch in Destiny to make a ton of cash. EA has Syndicate available as a free download for Origin users. EA and Activision actually tried to buy Minecraft before Microsoft stepped in. Here are some of the new modes launching with GTA V's online heists. Simcity Developer Shutdown By EA

Now this was a huge shock. Electronic Arts has shutdown the studio responsible for SimCity but they're keeping the name “Maxis” alive. The week-long deals for the first full week of March have rolled out for the Xbox One and Xbox 360. Dead Rising: Watchtower teases some new info and you'll want to check it out right here.
