Hero Blend #51: Welcome Home, Spider-Man

NOTE: Due to some technical issues, this week’s episode of Hero Blend has some sound sync issues – but don’t let that stop you from listening! It’s a good one!

Since the launch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2008, comic book movie fans have been having the same conversation over and over again, repeatedly asking, “What if the major studios could make a deal that would see The Avengers, Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four all fighting together?” For years this idea has seemed little more than a pipe dream, but this week huge part of that fantastic scenario actually came true: Spider-Man is coming to the MCU!

It has been officially announced by both Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures this week that the two companies would be teaming up for forge a new future for everyone’s favorite web-slinging superhero. The Amazing Spider-Man franchise will be coming to an end, and plans are in the works both for Spidey to appear in Captain America: Civil War and his own reboot solo movie in 2017. Obviously, this is epic news in the comic book movie world, and has had fans asking all kinds of questions about what looks like a limitless future for Spider-Man.

Joining me for the discussion of this landmark deal on Hero Blend #51 is Cinema Blend’s own resident Spider-Man super fan Sean O’Connell, and during the episode we touch on everything from what we hope to see from the next big Spider-Man outing to whether or not Ultimate Spider-Man’s Miles Morales should get his shot at the big screen soon. Watch and enjoy!
