Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8: Terry Crews And Co. Are Back On Set For One Last Go (Title Of My Sex Tape)

Melissa Fumero as Amy Santiago, Andy Samberg as Jake Peralta and Terry Crews as Terry Jeffords in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

When it was announced that Season 8 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine would be the last for the NBC comedy, it was also announced that the season would be premiering later this fall rather than over the spring. Now the final season is in production in full force, as series stars Melissa Fumero and Terry Crews are back on set and giving it a go on set one last time. (Title of my sex tape, couldn't resist.)

Melissa Fumero, who plays Amy Santiago on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, posted a photo on Instagram of herself along with co-stars Terry Crews and Andre Braugher back in Captain Holt’s office, all smiles. Fumero indicated that they had already started filming but she forgot to take a picture to commemorate the occasion so she decided to take one of Day 2:

It was announced in February that the comedy would be coming to an end after the upcoming eighth season. This will mark the second time the series was cancelled, as Fox had originally axed the show in 2018 before NBC picked it up a day later. With filming starting up for the final season, it will be an emotional time for not only the cast, but the fans who have stuck through the last several years.

Although it’s not currently known exactly what the 99th precinct will be up to next season, following last summer’s protests, the series will be tackling racism and police brutality, as well as the COVID pandemic. With Brooklyn Nine-Nine being a comedy, it has nevertheless included some serious topics, like Amy’s struggle with fertility. It will be interesting to see how the show will approach a topic as serious as police brutality, and the COVID-19 pandemic since New York was once the epicenter.

Since Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be premiering Season 8 later than planned, the writers have had the time to make sure the season will be up to par for the fans and make sure it gets the proper sendoff. Some scripts were already tossed, and with the announcement of the final season, who knows just how many ideas were changed?

This is most likely only the beginning of the cast sharing moments from filming the final season, which means that there will be even more emotional posts over the coming months as the cast gets ready to say goodbye to the characters that have been part of them for almost a decade. It will be hard for many fans to say goodbye to the 99th precinct after all these years as well, but what will surely stick is the chemistry the entire cast has, and the bond that they share with the fans who helped save this show and gave it much more life than expected.
