Perhaps not all hope is lost for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise. The Ukrainian developer, GSC Game World, has announced that they have plans to release an official statement regarding the company and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 this Monday.
According to Blues, there was just a single tweet let loose by GSC regarding the studio's closing and the possible future of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 saying..."An official statement will be made on Monday."
This follows closely on the widely spread rumors that GSC Game World is shutting down due to financial issues and the fact that the company's CEO, Sergei Grigorovich, mentioned that he was not entirely pleased with the direction of the open-world sequel.
Now, supposedly the Ukrainian government wants to step in and take control of GSC and its assets, meaning they would be in charge of whatever happens with the studio from then on. However, Grigorovich purportedly wanted to avoid the government takeover and would rather shut the studio down instead.
Of course, all of this will be clarified this upcoming Monday by the people at GSC Game World and we'll finally have an answer as to what will become of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
