It has been a few eventful years since it was first announced that James Gunn would be heading over to the world of DC Comics to bring The Suicide Squad to life, but now that the craziness is behind us (for the most part), the time has finally come to see the visionary director’s spin on Task Force X and its collection of supervillains, outcasts, and a walking, talking, lovable shark humanoid. And while the best way to the see the R-rated comic book adaptation is on the biggest screen possible (and loudest speakers as well), you can watch all the action of The Suicide Squad streaming.
Below is a breakdown of how and when you can watch The Suicide Squad streaming on HBO Max starting Thursday, August 5 (a day earlier than expected), some information on when the movie will be on the streamer for good, and how to watch David Ayer’s version of Suicide Squad.
Where To Watch The Suicide Squad Streaming
The Suicide Squad will premiere on HBO Max at 7 p.m. EDT, Thursday, August 5, and will be available for 31 days, which means you can watch John Cena’s Peacemaker, Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn through Labor Day weekend. Like the rest of the Warner Bros. 2021 releases that are debuting on HBO Max the same day as in theaters, The Suicide Squad is only available for HBO Max subscribers with the ad-free subscription.
But like The Suicide Squad (both the characters and franchise), HBO Max subscribers (even those with the ad-supported model) will have a second chance to enjoy the movie later on.

When Will The Suicide Squad Be On HBO Max For Good
Even though the Warner Bros.’ slate of 2021 releases have only initially been available to stream for 31 days from the day they arrived in theaters, we are beginning to see the movies return to HBO Max a few months following their premieres. Wonder Woman 1984 was the first movie to be released via this model back in December 2020, and it returned a little less than five months after its initial run of 31 days on the streaming service. Other movies released this way — Tom and Jerry, Judas and the Black Messiah, The Little Things — have all returned to HBO Max a few months after their initial release and are available to all of the platform’s subscribers, no matter which package they take.
How To Watch David Ayer’s Suicide Squad Online
Whether it’s before or after checking out James Gunn’s vision for Task Force X, there are some out there who want to watch David Ayer’s 2016 film Suicide Squad if they missed it the first time or completely forgot what happened throughout the movie. Watching the movie is easier than ever before as Suicide Squad is streaming on HBO Max along with the other DC Comics movies released in recent years. Don’t go looking for John Cena though as you can’t see him there.
Well, now you know how, where, and when you can watch The Suicide Squad streaming. All that is left to do is plop down on the couch and watch the hilarious, gory, and surprisingly heartfelt DC movie.
