22 Cans, the new company by a small group of like-minded developers headed up by none other than Peter Molyneux, will be exploring creativity in a different way. The group will be delving into 22 experiments starting with the unique social exercise for mobile users called Curiosity. The first trailer for this project has emerged.
To be honest, the whole thing sounds like a horror movie script waiting to happen. Except, in real life, I doubt something insidious will happen at the end...well, I hope nothing insidious will happen at the end.
Anyway, Curiousity is a joint social experiment. Users will enter into a room and “chip” away at a giant black box in the middle of an otherwise empty room. There will be a light “cash shop” where you can buy picks, but only one pick will be available for $77,000.
In case the trailer didn't properly explain it: only one person at the very end of this thing will see what's inside the box. Only one. After that it's up to that single individual to tell the world what was in the box.
I imagine this experiment will be riddled with trolls and douches trying to circle-jerk the whole thing.
Still, I think it's kind of cool. I'm actually very curious to know the outcome of this social experiment and it's sort of the first time everyone can get involved where the entire outcome will be based on one of the individuals involved. According to Molyneux, when the project was first announced...
"It's an insane amount of money,"... "This is not a money-making exercise; it is a test about the psychology of monetisation."
Well, if you'd like to keep an eye on this project you can do so by paying a visit to the Official Facebook Page. Curiosity is set for release on iOS devices beginning next month in September.
