Upcoming DC Movies: What's Next For Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman And More
A full rundown of everything in the works from the cinematic world(s) of DC Comics.

It looks like it will be a while before Batman is back on the big screen, and we do not know when Wonder Woman will make her epic return. Luckily, Superman is the next upcoming DC movie on the horizon and is approaching… well, not faster than a speeding bullet, but very quickly.
Of course, there are plenty more upcoming superhero movies from the world (or worlds, I should say) of DC Comics on the upcoming 2025 movie schedule and beyond. You don’t need supervision to take a deeper look at what to expect from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s first chapter of the DC Universe. Just follow this guide.
Superman (July 11, 2025)
David Corenswet is about to join a long line of iconic actors who have portrayed the Man of Steel as the lead of the Superman cast. Writer and director James Gunn's new interpretation of Clark Kent and his alter ego in red and blue also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and a shaggy CGI terrier mutt as his superpowered dog, Krypto.
Batman Azteca: Choque De Imperios (2025)
Some of the best animated Batman movies have reinterpreted the Dark Knight’s origins, or his entire world, in deeply inventive ways, and one of the most fascinating upcoming Batman movies is about to join that club. Horacio Garcia Rojas stars in director Juan Jose Meza-Leon’s Batman Azteca: Choque De Imperios (which translates to "Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires") as a vengeful Aztec man who dons a dark new identity. There is no word on exactly when the film will be released, but, according to ScreenRant, it will reportedly be available with a HBO Max subscription sometime in 2025.
Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow (June 26, 2026)
Clark Kent is not the only Kryptonian set to be a part of the DCU, as Craig Gillespie is helming a film inspired by writer Tom King’s acclaimed comic, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. House of the Dragon cast member Milly Alcock will star in the title role of Superman’s cousin, alongside Jason Momoa as Lobo, his second DC character role after Aquaman.
Clayface (September 11, 2026)
You can expect to see more DC villain origin stories, a la Joker, as there is a movie about Clayface in the works and due in the fall of 2026. Initially, Mike Flanagan was announced as the screenwriter for the film, which he described as a "horror/thriller tragedy," before Drive scribe Hossein Amini was brought in for rewrites in May 2025.
Untitled The Batman Sequel (October 1, 2027)
Many BatFans agree that Matt Reeves made one of the all-time best live-action Batman movies, starring one of the all-time best Batman actors, Robert Pattinson, with the simply titled The Batman. The widely acclaimed, noir-inspired epic’s currently untitled sequel and its development have been subject to much speculation since it was announced in 2022, but it is currently set to release just in time for Bruce Wayne’s favorite holiday, Halloween, in 2027.

Dynamic Duo (June 30, 2028)
The last time we saw Batman’s costumed companion in a live-action feature was in 1997’s Batman & Robin, which the DCU is making up for with a movie featuring two Boy Wonders. The upcoming animated movie Dynamic Duo is, as James Gunn shared on X (formerly Twitter), "a mix of animation, puppetry, and CGI” that follows Dick Grayson and Jason Todd on an adventure from writer Matt Aldrich and producer Matt Reeves.
The Authority (TBA)
One of the most criminally overlooked superhero collectives from DC Comics is The Authority, which comes from a Wildstorm title following a group of rebellious vigilantes, including Midnighter, Deathblow, and other unique characters. Gunn has referred to this film, which is still in development, as a passion project of his, adding that the team will serve as a major focal point in the DCU timeline.
The Brave And The Bold (TBA)
While Robert Pattinson’s Batman is not part of the DCU, the franchise does have an official iteration of the Dark Knight, which has been introduced in Creature Commandos and will later appear in The Brave and the Bold. The Flash director Andy Muschietti is helming the flick, which will see Bruce Wayne team up with his son, Damian Wayne, who is one of the deadliest Robins in history. Gunn said that there is still a wait for the script, which explains its current lack of a projected release date.
Swamp Thing (TBA)
Fans who were disappointed to see the Swamp Thing TV show get cancelled should be happy to know that the plant-based humanoid is getting another chance at glory with his own movie. Academy Award nominee James Mangold is developing the film, which he told MovieWeb will be a standalone, “gothic horror” picture.
Teen Titans (TBA)
The last and only time DC’s team of younger vigilantes, like Robin and Starfire, was brought to the big screen was in the animated Teen Titans GO to the Movies. According to THR, Supergirl: World of Tomorrow scribe Ana Nogueira is writing a new Teen Titans movie that could be more in the vein of HBO Max’s grittier live-action TV show.
Constantine 2 (TBA)
John Constantine is an occult expert and magic-wielding DC character who has been portrayed in multiple iterations (such as a gender-swapped version in Netflix’s The Sandman), but was first played on the big screen by Keanu Reeves. One of the most surprising upcoming DC movies is a direct sequel to his cult-favorite 2005 film, Constantine, for which, according to Inverse, director Francis Lawrence is also set to return to helm.
J.J. Abrams/Ta-Nehisi Coates Superman Movie (TBA)
David Corenswet’s Clark Kent is not the only Man of Steel we are expected to see on the big screen, as there has been a movie about a Black Superman in the works since 2021. J.J. Abrams is producing the Elseworlds story from writer Ta-Nehisi Coates, which Gunn confirmed was still in development on Threads in early 2024, which was the last major update we have heard about it.
There are also plenty of exciting upcoming DC TV shows to look forward to (many of which are a part of the DC Universe canon). Plus, if you cannot get enough of superheroes on the big screen no matter where they come from, take a look at our guide to the upcoming Marvel movies set to fly into theaters.
