Upcoming DC Movies: We've Gotten Our First Glimpse At Supergirl, Plus Updates On Batman And Wonder Woman, And More

2025 has been a big year for DC. Superman is back and flying high (and will be back again in no time–more on that below). We've finally officially started the first chapter, called Gods and Monsters, of the newly revamped DCU on the big screen. Supergirl is up next in the summer of 2026, and though it will still be a while before the other biggest DC heroes, like Batman, are back in theaters, plans are starting to come together. We do not know when Wonder Woman will make her epic return, but it's looking more and more likely that it could be sooner than we thought.

Of course, there are plenty more upcoming superhero movies from the world (or worlds, I should say) of DC Comics on the upcoming 2026 movie schedule, and beyond. You don’t need superhuman vision to take a deeper look at what to expect from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s first chapter of the DC Universe. Just follow this guide.

Supergirl (June 26, 2026)

Clark Kent is not the only Kryptonian set to be a part of the DCU, as Craig Gillespie is helming a film inspired by writer Tom King’s acclaimed comic, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Following her cameo at the end of Superman, former House of the Dragon cast member Milly Alcock will star in the title role, the Man of Steel's cousin, alongside Jason Momoa as Lobo, his second DC character role after Aquaman. James Gunn recently described Supergirl as a "space adventure.

This first trailer for Supergirl has been released, and, frankly, it looks like this movie will be a ton of fun. Lobo looks menacing, Krypto looks cute, and Supergirl herself looks wild! I mean that in a good way.

I love the tone of the DCU so far, and Supergirl fits that tone perfectly, at least in the trailer.

Clayface (September 11, 2026)

You can expect to see more DC villain origin stories, a la Joker, as there is a movie about Clayface in the works and due in the fall of 2026. Partially penned by Mike Flanagan, who describes the film as a "horror/thriller tragedy," Tom Rhys Harries is set to play the eponymous lead character, who possesses the ability to appear as anyone, but is cursed with a grotesque default form. The body horror film wrapped principal photography in early November.

Man Of Tomorrow (July 9, 2027)

In September 2025, James Gunn announced the follow-up to Superman, titled Man of Tomorrow, would be released on July 9, 2027. Obviously, not much is known at this point, though Gunn teased that it would be "less comic-booky," but would still focus on the rivalry between Superman and supervillain Lex Luthor. David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult will return as Superman and Luthor, respectively.

The Batman: Part II (October 1, 2027)

Matt Reeves helmed one of the best live-action Batman movies, starring one of the all-time best Batman actors, Robert Pattinson, simply titled The Batman. In June, Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin turned in the long-awaited screenplay for the widely acclaimed, noir-inspired epic’s follow-up, which is currently set to release just in time for Bruce Wayne’s favorite holiday, Halloween, in 2027. The Batman: Part II will not be set in the new DCU and will remain its own thing, at least for now.

Dynamic Duo (June 30, 2028)

The last time we saw Batman’s costumed companion in a live-action feature was in 1997’s Batman & Robin, which DC is making up for with a movie featuring two Boy Wonders. The upcoming animated movie Dynamic Duo is, as James Gunn shared on X (formerly Twitter), "a mix of animation, puppetry, and CGI” that follows Dick Grayson and Jason Todd on an adventure from writer Matt Aldrich and producer Matt Reeves. It is officially not part of the DCU, as it was thought to be initially, but is set "Elsewhere."

The Brave And The Bold (TBA)

While Robert Pattinson’s Batman is not part of the official DCU, the franchise does have an official iteration of the Dark Knight, who was introduced in Creature Commandos and will later appear in The Brave and the Bold. The Flash director Andy Muschietti is helming the flick, which will reportedly see Bruce Wayne team up with his son, Damian Wayne, who is one of the deadliest Robins in history.

After not much talk about The Brave and the Bold since the original announcement way back in 2023, Muschietti revealed in October 2025 that the film was still on the way. From how he talked about it, it sounds like we may know more come spring 2026. Fingers crossed!

Untitled Wonder Woman Movie (TBA)

In June 2025, James Gunn revealed that a new Wonder Woman film was in the works and that it could be getting fast-tracked. DC also announced in July that Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira would be penning the script and is working on it now. That's all we have, so far, but it's great to know something is on the way!

The Authority (TBA)

One of the most criminally overlooked superhero collectives from DC Comics is The Authority, which comes from a Wildstorm title following a group of rebellious vigilantes, including Midnighter, Deathblow, and other unique characters. Gunn has referred to this film, which is still in development, as a passion project of his, adding that the team will serve as a major focal point in the DCU timeline.

Swamp Thing (TBA)

Fans who were disappointed to see the Swamp Thing TV show get cancelled should be happy to know that the plant-based humanoid is getting another chance at glory with his own movie. Academy Award nominee James Mangold is developing the film, which he told MovieWeb will be a standalone, “gothic horror” picture.

Sgt. Rock (TBA)

The development of a Sgt. Rock movie has been, well, rocky. Initially, Daniel Craig was tapped to play the Silver Age World War II hero, but he dropped out and was replaced by DC veteran Colin Farrell. In April of 2025, it was announced that principal photography, which was to commence in the summer, had been scrapped and moved to summer 2026. Now, even that is up in the air

Warner Bros. said the delay was due to the weather conditions needed for the shoot, though there were rumors that the studio felt director Luca Guadagnino might not be the right fit. It was later reported in July 2025 that Guadagnino would no longer be directing, but the project was still moving forward.

Teen Titans (TBA)

The last and only time DC’s team of younger vigilantes, like Robin and Starfire, was brought to the big screen was in the animated Teen Titans GO to the Movies. According to THR, Supergirl scribe Ana Nogueira is writing a new Teen Titans movie that could be more in the vein of HBO Max’s grittier live-action TV show. After the announcement of the next Wonder Woman movie, which Nogueira is also writing, it sounds like this was put on the back burner for the time being while she works on that.

Untitled Bane And Deathstroke Movie (TBA)

The DCU has made it clear that villains will be just as much of a focus as heroes. In September of 2024, it was announced that Bane and Deathstroke would get a movie together. Matthew Orton, who penned Captain America: Brave New World, has been announced as the writer, and it was reported in July that the first draft of the script had been submitted, but for now, that's all we know

Constantine 2 (TBA)

John Constantine is an occult expert and magic-wielding DC character who has been portrayed in multiple iterations (such as a gender-swapped version in Netflix’s The Sandman), but was first played on the big screen by Keanu Reeves. One of the most surprising upcoming DC movies is a direct sequel to his cult-favorite 2005 film, Constantine, for which, according to Inverse, director Francis Lawrence is also set to return to helm. As of Fall 2025, the movie is still in development, with script rewrites underway, according to our friends at GamesRadar.

J.J. Abrams/Ta-Nehisi Coates Superman Movie (TBA)

David Corenswet’s Clark Kent is not the only Man of Steel we are expected to see on the big screen, as there has been a movie about a Black Superman in the works since 2021. J.J. Abrams is producing the Elseworlds story from writer Ta-Nehisi Coates, which Gunn confirmed was still in development on Threads in early 2024, but with a lack of movement since then, and with the success of Superman in 2025, it seems unlikely that this project is still in development.

There are also plenty of exciting upcoming DC TV shows to look forward to (many of which are a part of the DC Universe canon). Plus, if you cannot get enough of superheroes on the big screen, no matter where they come from, take a look at our guide to the upcoming Marvel movies set to fly into theaters.
