If you missed out on the Black Friday sales for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, you're getting another chance to pick up the expansion on the cheap. Blizzard's official store is now selling the game at a sharp discount.
In North America, you can pick up Mists of Pandaria for $20 instead of the usual $40. This deal applies to both the physical and digital editions of the game. The discount will end on November 29th at 11:59 pm PST.
The European Blizzard Store, meanwhile, has marked the Standard Edition down to 19.99 € / £16.99. The Deluxe Edition is now 34.99 € / £26.99. That set of deals will be available until December 3rd.
Mists of Pandaria is the fourth expansion pack for the MMORPG. It centers around a new continent discovered by the Alliance and Horde. As both factions begin to fight for control of Pandaria, they soon discover that this peaceful-looking land is host to a number of dangers. Level 85+ characters will find a host of new challenges, including quests, dungeons and raids.
Pandaria's native race, the Pandaren, will be playable for the first time with this expansion. It's the first race in the game that can be played as a Horde or Alliance character. After finishing the introductory area, the player chooses between the two sides.
The expansion also introduces a new class. Monks are capable of filling DPS, tank or healer roles. Pandarens, and many other existing races in the game, can become this class.
Pandaria launched two months ago so it's surprising to see steep discounts this quickly. In the end, though, the initial purchase fee for an expansion is just a fraction of the money a potential player can spend. Most of the game's revenue comes from the monthly subscription fees. If Blizzard can convince a former player to pick up the expansion on the cheap, that person might become a long term subscriber again.
