It has been nearly six years since a Peacock subscription first allowed people to watch everything from the best episodes of The Office to sports to a growing library of original shows, movies, and documentaries. Though millions already get the most out of one of the best streaming services around, there are still plenty of others who are either on the fence about joining or are just now hearing about it.

With the 2026 Winter Olympics, Super Bowl LX, and a whole new slate of original series (looking at you, The ‘Burbs) right around the corner, now seems like the perfect time to make a case for those who have yet to sign up for this robust platform. We have put together a quick yet thorough guide of all the perks of a Peacock subscription, how much it costs to subscribe, how you can watch it, and so much more. That said, let’s dive into the nitty-gritty of this popular platform that allows you to watch some of the best 2026 TV shows, and eventually, select films from the 2026 movie schedule.

Peacock TV: from $7.99 a month/$79.99 a year
Tune into the latest hits from NBC and Bravo as well as Originals by subscribing to Peacock TV. How To Watch The 2026 Winter Olympics On Peacock

The 2026 Winter Olympics, which are to take place in Milan and Cortina, Italy, kick off this week, meaning we’ll all get to watch some of the best amateur athletes from around the world compete in a variety of events. While the opening ceremony doesn’t kick off until Friday, February 6, the action is already underway, and you can watch it right now.

If you go to the Olympics Hub on the Peacock app or website, you’ll find an assortment of events, sports, specials, documentaries, and analysis from some of NBC Sports’ best and brightest. The hub includes detailed schedules, the medal count, and pretty much everything else you need to enjoy the games.

Not only does Peacock have the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, but the streamer also gives its users access to Super Bowl LX, aka the biggest sports event of the year. Coverage will be ongoing throughout the day on Sunday, but the big game between the AFC Champions, the New England Patriots and the NFC Champions, the Seattle Seahawks, will kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Even if you don’t like watching football, the game will be worth checking out for all those star-studded commercials and new movie trailers alone.

What About Other Sports On Peacock?

One of the biggest draws for any streaming service these days is live sports, and Peacock is one of the best in this regard. Even outside of the Winter Olympics and Super Bowl LX, the platform is a must for sports fans. From weekly NFL coverage to NASCAR to Premier League soccer, there’s no shortage of action.

While you won’t be able to check out any of the upcoming WWE events on Peacock (those now stream on the ESPN Unlimited app in the United States and with a Netflix subscription internationally), the Saturday Night’s Main Event shows will continue to stream for the time being.

Both the Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus subscription plans give you access to hours upon hours of live sports throughout the year. There are commercials during live sporting events with both plans; the more expensive option will cut those out during replays or clip shows.

What TV Shows Can I Watch On Peacock?

With Peacock and NBC falling under the same corporate umbrella, it should be no surprise that the popular streaming service gives you access to some of the network’s most popular and beloved shows of yesterday and today. From hilarious comedies like The Office and Parks and Recreation to Dick Wolf’s various crime procedurals set in the One Chicago and Law & Order universes, there’s just so much to watch.

All those new NBC shows? Well, depending on your subscription plan, you can watch those as they air or the following day, which is great for fans of Brilliant Minds, The Hunting Party, and St. Denis Medical. If you want to see all the upcoming SNL hosts and musical guests, this is going to be the place to go.

What Movies Are Available On Peacock?

Like any streaming service, Peacock comes loaded with an assortment of movies from just about every genre and film era imaginable. In the past, Peacock has offered subscribers the entire Harry Potter franchise (these are still available, by the way) and various other major big-screen brands like the Jurassic Park/World franchise. Even though titles will come and go throughout the course of the year, there is always something new (or old) being added for fans of all genres.

There are also a ton of new and recent movies streaming on Peacock right now. From Oscar nominees like Bugonia and Jurassic World Rebirth to others like HIM and The Bad Guys 2, there’s something for everyone.

Peacock Has Great Original TV Shows, Movies And Documentaries

When it comes to original content, Peacock holds it down. From the outrageously popular competition series like The Traitors to original comedies like The Paper (we can’t wait for Season 2) to thrillers like The Copenhagen Test, there’s no shortage here. Oh, how could we forget The ‘Burbs, which is set to premiere later this month?

The platform is also constantly adding original movies and documentaries, if that’s your thing. Though they mostly fall into the “true crime” camp, the variety of long-form programming on the streamer is top-notch.

Can I Watch Live News And Channels On Peacock?

Peacock also boasts a robust collection of 24/7 streaming channels for its subscribers, no matter the plan you choose. However, while everyone has access to NBC News Now, NBC Sports, and channels dedicated to specific shows, you will need a Premium Plus account to watch your local NBC affiliate and other live channels.

If you want to see everything your Peacock subscription offers in terms of live news and channels, simply click on the Channels tab in the Peacock app or browser.

How To Download Movies And Shows For Offline Viewing

Peacock has a ton of great movies and TV shows (both originals and time-honored classics), but what happens if you can’t finish the latest season of Twisted Metal or catch the wild Bugonia ending before heading out on a trip? Well, the streamer lets you download a plethora of content to your mobile device so you can view it when you don’t have access to wifi or a strong cellular connection. All you have to do is search for a title you want to watch, click the download button next to it, and wait for it to load. You’ll be good to go!

While you will need the Premium Plus plan to take advantage of this perk, and some select titles can’t be downloaded (these are few and far between), the download feature comes in handy in times of need.

Peacock Supported Devices

Like most streaming services, you can watch Peacock on several different devices. This includes all the major web browsers, Android and iOS phones and tablets, popular streaming boxes, and all modern PlayStation and XBOX consoles. The platform is also compatible with various smart TVs.

I have personally tested Peacock on my Samsung and LG smart TVs, PlayStation 5, Roku, Tivo Stream, Chrome and Safari browsers, and iPhone 12, and there aren’t any issues to report. If only this were the case for other streaming services.

Peacock Has Some Great Accessibility Features

When it comes to accessibility features, Peacock offers its subscribers quite a lot. There are the standard features, like closed captioning, available for the library, as well as with live programming on the Premium Plus tier. On top of that, subscribers can use audio description tools for a large number of movies and shows on all of the supported devices. The app can also be synced with screen readers included with most modern TVs and streaming devices.

How To Cancel Peacock

For one reason or another, some folks will want to cancel their Peacock subscription, and doing so is a fairly easy task. If you subscribe to Peacock directly, follow these steps:

  • Go to the Peacock website on your browser or mobile device
  • Click on your account settings
  • Go to the Plans & Payments section
  • Select “Cancel Plan”

You will still have access to your Peacock subscription until the end of your current billing cycle. And please note, if you subscribe through a third-party service like Roku, Apple TV+, or Amazon, you will need to cancel your subscription from the point of purchase.

Hopefully, all of this helps make sense of Peacock, its various subscription options, and everything that comes along with them.

Content Writer

Philip grew up in Louisiana (not New Orleans) before moving to St. Louis after graduating from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. When he's not writing about movies or television, Philip can be found being chased by his three kids, telling his dogs to stop barking at the mailman, or chatting about professional wrestling to his wife. Writing gigs with school newspapers, multiple daily newspapers, and other varied job experiences led him to this point where he actually gets to write about movies, shows, wrestling, and documentaries (which is a huge win in his eyes). If the stars properly align, he will talk about For Love Of The Game being the best baseball movie of all time.
