Tom Hiddleston as Loki in Loki disney+

You know, for as much as I am excited to see Tom Hiddleston return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the titular lead of Loki on Disney+, it is the new characters, such as Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, who really have me intrigued. Of course, it would still be cool to see a few other classic Marvel characters, specifically those who have already debuted in the Marvel movies, show up. In fact, I have 10 in mind, starting with the fellow Asgardian whose shadow the God of Mischief has yet to fully escape.

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston in Thor: Ragnarok

Thor

For all of the horrible things Loki has done to contribute to his lifelong sibling rivalry with Thor (whether it was personal or not), the God of Thunder clearly still cared for his adoptive brother if his sorrowful reaction to his death(s) is any proof. It would be nice to see Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston have a calm onscreen reunion on Disney+’s Loki, even if it took place in another time.

Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok

Valkyrie

On the other hand, let’s face it: Loki is at his best when he is being the worst, nefariously hatching a scheme to be the most powerful guy around - which I have no doubt will happen on his TV show. With the many other times he has attempted to claim the throne of Asgard, I would not be surprised if he set his sights on New Asgard, which is currently ruled by Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie. And, a fight between the fierce warrior and the tricky villain is one I would love to see.

Natalie Portman as Jane Foster in Thor: The Dark World

Jane Foster

The closest thing we have seen to a fight between Loki and Jane Foster was in Thor: The Dark World when she struck him “for New York,” and much to his amusement. I would not expect that slap to one day become a full-fledged quarrel until after Natalie Portman’s character assumes the God of Thunder moniker in 2022, but since Tom Hiddleston is not listed in the Thor: Love and Thunder cast, perhaps the rumored Season 2 of Loki could fulfill that wish.

Rumor: How Loki's Disney+ Series Could Lead Into Thor: Love And Thunder

Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis on WandaVision

Darcy Lewis

Another Marvel movie character favorite not appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder is Darcy Lewis, whom Kat Dennings reprised on WandaVision and for the first time since Thor: The Dark World. I believe the astrophysicist comic relief role could have the same scene-stealing effect on Loki, which would not be too much of a stretch considering her expertise in strange phenomena and the series’ strange subject matter.

Taika Waititi as Korg in Thor: Ragnarok

Korg

Speaking of strange, there really is no character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe quite like Korg, the rock-skinned, Kronan warrior with an ironically friendly and extremely laid back disposition whom Thor and Loki met in Thor: Ragnarok while stranded on Sakaar. He achieved one of the funniest superhero movie cameos in recent memory by appearing in Avengers: Endgame for mere minutes and could easily do the same on Loki if they could just borrow Taika Waititi’s voice for an hour or so.

Idris Elba as Heimdall in Thor: Ragnarok

Heimdall

Someone who I wish we could have seen more of in Thor: Ragnarok is Heimdall, more or less because Idris Elba is consistently one of the strongest aspects, if not the strongest aspect, of everything he appears in. By that logic, he would surely become a highlight of the Loki TV show and, since Idris Elba has already said he wants to play Heimdall again, this is a perfect chance to make it happen, especially with the series’ warped perception of time, as the trailers have revealed.

Marvel Movies In Order: How To Watch The MCU By Release Date And Chronologically

hela thor ragnarok cate blanchett

Hela

With teases of Loki traveling through time to different alternate universes on the show, this would also give Cate Blanchett the chance to return as Hela - a villain the Academy Award winner clearly had a blast playing. Of course, we never actually saw her die when Thor summoned Surtur (Clancy Brown) to destroy her along with Asgard at the end of Thor: Ragnarok, so perhaps a time jump might not even be necessary for Loki and his half-sister to share a bitter reunion.

Rene Russo and Tom Hiddleston in Thor

Frigga

However, time travel would be necessary for what would certainly not be a bitter reunion between Loki and Frigga (Rene Russo), the late former Queen of Asgard. Since Thor was given the chance to speak to his mother in Avengers: Endgame for one last time to help encourage a much-needed moment of redemption, I believe Loki deserves that same chance and for the same reason.

Colm Feore as Laufey in Thor

Laufey

That being said, an even more fitting and necessary reunion might be between Loki and his father - not Anthony Hopkins as Odin, but his real father, Laufey. Loki showrunner Michael Waldron has said that what initially attracted him to the series was the chance to delve deeper into the title character’s longtime struggles with his own identity, which means we may catch a glimpse of Loki’s Frost Giant origins and, potentially, Colm Feore reprising the fallen Frost Giant king in a cameo across time.

Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange

We have also heard confirmation from MCU mastermind Kevin Feige that the events of the Loki series will lead into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - director Sam Raimi’s upcoming sequel to the 2016 origin story. That being said, out of all of the Marvel movie characters I have listed here, Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme is the one cameo I am most confident in happening. Then again, most of us had the same feeling about Doctor Strange showing up on WandaVision due to Elizabeth Olsen’s Doctor Strange 2 casting, and look what happened there.

I actually took Doctor Strange’s absence from WandaVision as a lesson in not giving in to pre-meditated hype over unconfirmed details, but as the list above proves, sometimes we just cannot help ourselves. Besides, as long as we keep our anticipation at a healthy minimum, there is not too much harm in speculating over what twists and surprise cameos upcoming Marvel TV shows may feature because catching you off guard is what the MCU does best. Yet, for the sake of conversation, is there a specific character you are really wishing to see make an appearance on Loki?

Which MCU character do you most hope to see on Loki?
