The New Fantastic Four Movie Just Released The Best Picture Yet

Fantastic Four is only four months away from hitting theaters, which means that 20th Century Fox is beginning to kick up their marketing for the reboot. Along with the first trailer that came out in January, the studio also released a teaser poster which simply had the ‘4’ logo imprinted. Today they’ve released a new poster that will be adorning theater walls around the world that actually features the titular characters. Check it out!

The poster depicts a higher resolution shot of the same scene that ended the first Fantastic Four trailer. The foursome are staring at an energy beam shooting into sky of what appears to be The Negative Zone. However, in addition to a Thing-ified Ben Grimm, we also see teases of Johnny Storm’s flame powers and Susan Storm turning invisible. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Reed Richards is stretching in this scene, though it’s hard to tell whether his right leg is actually elongated or just looks longer because of the angle. Either way, the tagline "Change is coming" is appropriate given their altered physical appearances.

It’s also interesting to note that Fox is using their success with 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past to entice people to see their next superhero adventure. If anything, this poster does a good job of cementing the movie’s tone. Although the reboot is said to have elements from the classic comic books, the trailer and other marketing material we’ve seen thus far have given the impression that it will be more of a science fiction adventure. After all, nothing screams sci-fi more than unusual space suits, cool gadgets and inter-dimensional travel. That being said, the studio still has plenty of time to release more previews and images to give us a better idea of what to expect from this grounded reboot. For now, the production is certainly accomplishing its goal of distancing itself from the previous film series.

Modeled after the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic book series, Fantastic Four is a reimagining of Marvel’s First Family, who first debuted in 1961. When Reed Richards (Miles Teller), Susan Storm (Kate Mara), Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) and Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan) are teleported to the Negative Zone, they discover that they have been transformed in unimaginable ways. Learning how to use their new abilities, they’ll need to work together to cope with their changed lives and ultimately defeat their friend-turned-enemy Doom (Toby Kebbell) to save Earth.

Fantastic Four will be released in theaters on August 7th.
