Michael Myers is back! What? You didn’t know someone could survive a shot to the face? Get a dose of Halloween Rob Zombie-style when Sony Pictures Home Entertainment releases Halloween II on DVD and Blu-ray January 12th, 2010.
Halloween II picks up right where the first film left off. Poor Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor Compton) is desperate to have a normal life, but Michael Myers’ (Tyler Mane) determination to take care of some family business is relentless and he’ll take out anyone in Haddonfield, Illinois who gets in his way.
You’ll have the option to purchase the standard DVD for $28.96, the Unrated Director’s Cut DVD for $28.96, or the Unrated Director’s Cut BD for $38.96. All come with deleted and alternate scenes, audition footage, make-up test footage, a blooper reel, Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures music videos, Uncle Seymour Coffins’ stand-up routines, and commentary with writer/director Rob Zombie. Exclusive to the BD version will be MovieIQ and access to BD-Live.
Which one should you buy? If you ask me, I say none. Halloween II is one of my least favorite films of the year. On the other hand, if you enjoy watching a seemingly invincible killer brutally beat dozens of victims to death, knock yourself out. The unrated version of the film clocks in at 119 minutes, compared to the 105-minute theatrical version, so it seems silly to buy the standard DVD when it’s the same price as the director’s cut. As for the BD, I don’t understand why anyone would want to watch this nonsense, let alone spend an extra 10 bucks to watch it in the clarity of Blu-ray. Take the $10 and go buy some Alka-Seltzer to settle your stomach after the film.
