Bolt Will Be Fully Awesome On Blu-Ray

It looks like Bolt is making quite an entrance onto the Blu-ray market. If you love Bolt as much as Rhino, you can pick up an explosive Bolt package including the Blu-ray version of the film, the DVD and a digital file. If you need some time to think about the purchase, you have a little before the Disney DVD release on March 24th.

This animated comedy features John Travolta as the voice of Bolt, a dog who stars as a pup with superpowers in his own television series. When Bolt is accidently shipped from Hollywood to New York, he must figure out how to make it home so he can reunite with his beloved owner Penny (Miley Cyrus). Unfortunately, Bolt truly believes he has superpowers and has a hard time coming to terms with the fact that he’s just a regular dog. Alongside an alley cat named Mittens (Susie Essman) and hamster that happens to be Bolt’s biggest fan named Rhino (Mark Walton), Bolt sets off on a grand adventure, during which he discovers that he doesn’t need powers to be a hero.

You can’t go wrong with a movie about a dog. You also can’t go wrong with a incredibly amusing character like Rhino, which is why the bonus short, Super Rhino, will be the first thing I watch when I pick up my copy of the DVD. I’m not much of a Miley Cyrus fan, so I won’t be getting the 2-disc version, which comes with the “I Thought I Lost You” music video and a behind-the-scenes look at the song’s recording. If you also prefer Bolt to Miley, don’t discount this DVD just yet. It also comes with a look at the directors’ (Chris Williams and Byron Howards) experience of making the film, the “Act, Speak! The Voices of Bolt” featurette, “Creating the World of Bolt” featurette, deleted scenes and a DisneyFile digital copy. In addition to all the DVD bonus material, the Blu-ray Hi-Def edition comes with an interactive game and BD-Live access.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, everyone should enjoy a good animated comedy once in a while. So, if you haven’t had your share of CGI in some time, Bolt should be on the top of your list. The 1-disc DVD will only cost $29.99. All Bolt has to do is give you those innocent puppy eyes and you’ll be upgrading to either the 2-disc DVD for $32.99 or the Blu-ray version for $39.99.
