World To Get More White Noise

For every good sequel released there are about 200 really bad ones. Somehow White Noise 2 doesn't strike me as a project that will be one of the rare successes.

The original film starring Michael Keaton was panned by critics but did moderately well at the box office, which obviously makes it the perfect candidate for a sequel. Unfortunately, a good story doesn't seem to be what's driving the project. Instead a king among sequel mongers, Patrick Lussier, will get things going by serving as director. His past exploits include, Dracula 2000, The Prophecy 3, Dracula II: Ascension, and Dracula III: Legacy. See a trend?

The movie, has nothing to do with Keaton's character and apparently nothing to do with white noise either. According to Empire Online, the story is about a guy whose near-death experience suddenly tunes him into the ability to know when other's are facing imminent doom. He runs around saving folks left and right but quickly learns that there's a price to pay for his anti-death meddling. Think of it perhaps, as a mix between "The Dead Zone" and Final Destination.

First timer Matt Venne is in the writer's seat and although shooting is slated to begin in early 2006 there's not yet word on a final script or a cast.
