The DVD Blend Looks Out For The Lookout

Each week DVDs come out. Some of them are worth your time and money and some aren't. Some of them are movies I've seen, and some of them aren’t. Regardless, I give you my opinion on the big releases of the week. If the releases sound like something you want to buy, just click the link to go to Amazon.com and you’ll support Cinema Blend with a few pennies. Take it or leave it, here's the DVD Blend.

Cinema Blend Pick of the Week:

The Lookout

Just about anyone here who has a voice has trumpeted The Lookout, and yet too many people haven’t seen it. Well, here we are again. Hands down, The Lookout is the best release this week and one of the best movies of the year, so go ahead and give it a chance. Yes, I know it’s easy to look at the cast, filled with people who made silly television (“3rd Rock From the Sun”) and silly movies (Dumb and Dumber), but remember – Tom Hanks made “Bosom Buddies” before he was winning Oscars, so certainly Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Jeff Daniels can be just as capable (if not more) in this story of a young man with brain damage who gets roped into helping rob the bank where he works as a janitor. Of course, following the film’s mantra, whoever has the money has the power. You have the money, so are you going to support a quality movie like this, or Tim Allen in biker chaps?

Worth mentioning:
Row 1 - Cell 0 The Dark Crystal - It’s hard to believe that it’s been 25 years since The Dark Crystal came out. It’s even harder to believe there is still new footage out there we haven’t seen in previous DVD releases, but this 25th Anniversary edition unveils quite a bit of new stuff along with a remastered version of the film.Row 1 - Cell 2 Labyrinth - Alright, it may not be a big anniversary for Labyrinth, but the film has David Bowie as the Goblin King, do you really need a reason for a new edition? Like Henson’s other film, this release features a remastered version of the film along with new, never before seen footage.
