Tony Scott Goes To Chippendales

So Tony Scott just released The Taking of Pelham 123, a high-speed thriller about a crazy man who hijacks a subway train. Next up, he's directing Unstoppable, another movie about a runaway train but this time the train is filled with hazardous materials and it's headed right into a helpless city. Now if you had to predict what he'd be attached to direct next, what would you guess? I'm guessing that you've read the title of this story so you already assume that the movie will be about Chippendales. You're right.

Variety reports that Scott has been picked up to direct a biopic about the rise and fall of Chippendales creator Steve Banerjee. You're probably thinking that this sounds terrible and who would want to see a movie with a bunch of cut, dancing, shirtless dudes? It turns out that Banerjee was a crazy guy, afflicted by paranoia and competitiveness that drove him to order a hit on his club's choreographer when contract negotiations didn't go well. Penned by Lisa Schrager and produced by Scott, the movie will allegedly be much more similar to True Romance than his recent works.

What I'm bummed about here is that the two dudes that would've worked best as background dancers in this flick have passed on. Honestly, what better way to revisit Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze's Chippendales feud?
