Golden Compass Armored Bear Poster

New Line has released a new book cover… er I mean movie poster for The Golden Compass. If this were the cover on a book, it would be super cool, but for a movie poster, it’s kind of odd. What is this? I mean, it does nothing to give us any idea what the movie is going to look like. It looks like an artist’s rendering of something he read, not an advertisement for a really cool movie. This is concept art, not a movie poster.

If you look at it just as concept art though, it’s kind of cool. I really like the design of the Armored Bear, I just wonder how it will look in actual execution. There’s a big difference between painting it and building it in CGI so that it looks realistic and interacts properly with live action characters.

This poster is horrible... it does look like Lyra is sort of dropped in with the Bear in a position thats physically impossible... Her foot position says she under him but then as you move up she sheems to be to the far left of his massive head... poorly done... maybe its a photoshoppped image from some concept art?
