Directors Jon and Andrew Erwin were unable to find a major label distributor for their film,October Baby, to get the flick into theaters. They raised the money on their own and eventually managed to pull in over $5 million dollars at the box office. Now, fans who did manage to catch the flick at the box office will be able to own it on Blu-ray and DVD beginning on September 11.

October Baby follows newcomer actress Rachel Hendrix as Hannah, a college teen suffering from medical problems who learns her complications likely came from a botched abortion when she was in the womb. The film follows the student as she goes on an epic Spring Break trip to find her birth parents and make peace with her past. With abortion at the forefront of the upcoming election, the topic is timely, and it’s no surprise the low-budget film was able to garner press on outlets like Fox News and find an audience.

Despite the short theatrical release, October Baby will come jam-packed with special features. The basics, including deleted scenes, bloopers, and audio commentary, and several music videos will be included with the set, but so will several featurettes and a music video. The film’s pro-life stance will certainly be polarizing for some and perfect for others, but if you buy into the message, at least you’ll get the extras to boot.
